About Us

objects and made predictions of what would happen.  The results were some very interesting designs.  The boys especially liked this craft because they felt like they were pulling the cord that starts a lawn mower!  Another day we made tissue paper flowers.  We also decorated squares of paper and folded them into pinwheels.  One afternoon we finger painted with vanilla pudding using marshmallow "Peeps".  The "Peeps" changed the color of the pudding to purple and pink.  The best part was eating the "Peeps".  (P.S. We gave them a fresh one to eat!)  This week we experimented with foil.  First we crumpled it.  Then we straightened it out.  Next we painted it.  After painting it, we put a piece of paper on it to make a print.  What interesting designs we made!  The children also have enjoyed a large variety of interactive stories where they have joined in to tell the story.  This promotes language and literacy skills as well as building phonological skills.

WACKY WEDNESDAY

We have really enjoyed reading all the adventures that "Erica" has had with the children. Our class teddy bear has been to many places, including a trip to Florida.  The children have really enjoyed being authors and illustrators.  We look forward to reading the remaining adventures that she has!  We continue to create different things in our classes.  Our class caterpillar is growing like crazy and has already needed a hair cut.  (I hope everyone's at home is getting lots of love!)  We again fed a family that was less fortunate than ourselves, thanks to Miss Maryann's help.  The children really enjoyed making a meal.  They love cooking!  The monkey bread we made for ourselves was a big hit with all!   All recipes will be included in our end of the year book.

Child -  "Okay."
Miss Cathy - "You'll have to remember your story for Mom."
Child - "Oh, I will.  I keep things in my head for a long time!"

Talking about the "hospital" at school -
Miss Cathy -  "Were you in the doctor's office?"
Child - "Yeah, I live there!"

Putting on coats at dismissal-
Parent Helper:  "Do you need help with your zipper?"
Child:  "No, I can do it.  What is it with you girls?  You're always trying to help!"

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

“When You Thought I Wasn’t Looking”
(written by a former child)

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don’t.

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I
