table will be potato flakes!
The easels had skin tone paints and
feathers to paint with instead of brushes, along with Thanksgiving
stamps for the first two weeks of the month. Next we had brown and
peach paint on one easel and oil pastels with a
variety of colored construction
paper on the other easel. One of the children drew a picture of Jesus’
mother, Mary, after playing in the dramatic Playroom’s Nativity scene.
We love to see this extension of learning! Currently on the easels is
silver and gold paint, just in time for Christmas!
The Extended Day children are having so
much fun! On Monday afternoons they bring their lunch and, after their
morning class has finished, have a picnic on a blanket in the large
playroom. We have a special fun craft planned each week. We have
painted our own pumpkins, made spaghetti monsters using cooked
spaghetti, colored glue, and googly eyes, made our own
homemade
crayons, and most recently we’ve
made Christmas ornaments using plastic covers, sequins, glue and
ribbon. After craft, we gather together to read a story, and then enjoy
free play time as the children visit the different centers at school.
The children are dismissed at 2:30.
Extended Day is open to any child who
attends school on Monday mornings (they must, however, be reliably
potty-trained). Sign-ups are on a week to week basis. If your child is
interested in participating please call Cathy any time prior to the
Monday you want your child to stay (feel free to call her at home
508-528-1068). There is a small fee for this program. |

WED. & FRIDAY EXPANDED CLASS |
The children and teachers continue to
enjoy the “Favorite Book” part of circle time. Every week a different
child is asked to bring in their favorite book to share with their
friends at circle time. The children also enjoy the Creative Movement
part of the day. This is a time when they can express themselves
through song and dance. Some favorites are “Freeze Dance” and “Washing
Machine”!
Teachers and children alike are enjoying
singing many favorite Christmas songs such as
“Away in a Manger” and “Silent Night”, and ringing sleigh bells
together as we sing “Jingle Bells”, “Rudolph”, “Frosty”, and “Here
Comes Santa Claus”.
Child (in the Dramatic Playroom
Nativity):
“I’m taking care of baby Jesus until God comes back!”

WISHING YOU A
JOYOUS CHRISTMAS
AND A BLESSED NEW YEAR!
